I think that this chapter is more exciting that some of the previous chapters. The boys are all scared yet they still want to enjoy themselves on the island. I think that Simon is being very mysterious. He doesn't really mind being on his own. He makes it clear that he doesn't believe that there is actually a beast so when it's dark, he starts to go back to the shelters by himself. Some of the other boys also didn't want to continue for the night so they turned back with Simon. Leaving Jack, Ralph and Roger to continue searching. I understand why the boys started to head back, but I am wondering why Jack, Ralph and Roger decided to continue. Especially after Ralph admitted that they were being foolish to continue on.
